IS IT TOO LATE?!
INT. RETAIL STORE - DAY
The bell rings as HANH bursts into the shop, out of breath.
In his hands he holds a comedy sketch, crumpled from the run
over. He has long hair and is wearing tight jeans and a
vintage t-shirt.
HANH
Am I too late?
The clerk behind the counter looks confused.
CLERK
... no?
HANH
Oh, good - great! I'd like to
submit a sketch, please.
CLERK
Submit a sketch?
HANH
Yeah, for National Sketch Writing
Month. I'd like to submit this
sketch.
HANH lays his sketch down on the counter and tries to smooth
out the wrinkles.
CLERK
Oh, theat Sketch Writing Month
thing? Yeah, they closed yesterday.
HANH
What?!
CLERK
Yeah, they closed. This is a
Ricky's now.
HANH looks around, and notices that the store is filled with
racks and racks of brightly colored costumes.
HANH
Damnit! Oh well, I guess it's
alright. The sketch sucked anyway.
The CLERK nods along apologetically. HANH folds up the sketch
and - with some effort - squeezes it into the back pocket of
his ridiculously tight jeans. HANH looks around again.
HANH (CONT'D)
Well, I guess I'll make the most of
it - I do need a costume.
CLERK
Great! What were you thinking of
going as?
HANH
Oh, me and my friends are gonna
dress up as hipsters!
The CLERK blinks once, slowly. HANH is clearly a hipster
already.
HANH (CONT'D)
Do you have any good costume stuff
that I could use to dress up like a
hipster?
CLERK
Uhhhhh, yeah, sure. Let's see, um.
How about these shoelaces? Very
hipster. You wear these and
everyone will know what you are,
right away.
HANH
Great - I'll take them!
HANH buys the shoelaces and leaves the store.
WHY WOULD THEY
SELL SHOELACES AT
A RICKY'S?OUT
